So Many Candles, So Little Cake!

Here's a great card with an unusual fold. The top part folds open to the right, and the panel underneath folds open to the left. Creates a great layered look!

Happy Birthday in Blue & Gold

What a classic, warm color combination - blue and gold. I opted to go with a square card this time - 5"x5", to be exact.

I love how this layout allows for lots of patterned paper. I can use many varieties for a cohesive look.

Using Embossing Folders

This is one of my favorite cards that I've made of late. I love the colors, and I love the details. For this one, I used an embossing folder twice; once through for the top of the panel and another time for the bottom. That way, I had some un-embossed space I could put a sentiment in.

Playing with a Layout

Two cards in one post! How's that for some inspiration?! I posted these guys together because they're fundamentally the same card.

Ask me how much I love Baker's Twine. Go ahead, ask me.
How about this color combination?

Guess where the color combination came from. Guess. I'll wait.

Playing with Color

Since I recently received a lot of business to be thankful for, the next few posts will feature a "thank you" sentiment. As always, feel free to play with the sentiments on your own cards.
This card is me playing with my newest layered flower find. I LOVE how easy this is to create with punches, and I think the layering creates that "wow" factor. This card uses Calypso Coral, Not Quite Navy, and Baja Breeze, a color combination I first fell in love with here. I love interpreting these color combinations. Design Seeds is a great place for inspiration.

Like my grass? I found it for $3 a 12" square at Hobby Lobby. I love that place!

Making a Rainbow with Colored Pencils

This idea came from the March/April issue of PaperCrafts Magazine. This was super simple to do. Just color some horizontal rainbow-colored stripes on a piece of watercolor paper, and then cut it out. The magazine suggests spraying it with water afterwards, but this had no effect on my textures. What it DID do was curl the heck out of my paper, to the point that it wouldn't adhere properly to the card.
Don't do that to yourself.

Rainbow crafts seem to be all the rage in the Internet crafting world, and I couldn't be happier! Who doesn't love vibrant streaks of color?!

Green & Black Wedding Card

I had the huge honor of attending a wedding this past weekend. Not only was it wonderful to see two people so obviously in love get married, but it was also nice for my husband and I to spend an evening away from the kids.
The colors of the wedding were green and black. I really struggled with coming up with this design, but as always, a quick search on the Internet was just the inspiration I needed. It seems like the ones I struggle the most with end up being my favorites. Go figure.

I'm going through a "no sentiment on the front of the card" phase. Please bear with me while I attempt to grow out of it.

I'm usually a lazy inside-of-the-card decorator, but I really loved the effect of the flowers in the background.

The flowers themselves were stamped with black VersaFine ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I really love this effect too.

Green and black are a little unconventional for wedding colors. Mine were sage green and yellow. What were your wedding colors?
